Historic Carrollton Walking Tour

Check Out the Sights, Sounds, and Streets of the Carrollton Neighborhood

Our newest walking tour! Step into the charming Carrollton neighborhood, where history, culture, and architecture meet the streetcar and the Mississippi River.

Led by a knowledgeable guide, Emily Manger, better known as @TheCarrolltonian - you’ll dive into Carrollton's unique architectural landscape, spotting homes and landmarks that reflect the neighborhood’s development from a rural getaway to an integral part of New Orleans. Once a thriving resort town, Carrollton’s past is intricately tied to the famous St. Charles Streetcar, which helped shape it into the spirited area it is today. Learn the stories of influential families, visionary riverboat captains, industrious butchers, and pioneering dairy owners whose lives left lasting marks on Carrollton. Along the way, learn of celebrated spots like the Streetcar Barn, which keeps the world’s oldest continually running streetcar line rolling through its streets.

  • We strongly advise all visitors to not trust the streetcar to deliver you to the tour on time. Enjoy it afterwards when time is not an issue. It’s the most charming, historic, and UNRELIABLE form of transportation in our fair city.

Call United Cabs at 504-522-9771 or use Lyft or Uber apps for accurate arrivals.

  • Our tours happen rain or shine! New Orleans can be a little wet at times. In our experience a rain proof jacket with a hood is the most effective clothing to bring.

Also, we have crafted tour routes that have scenes under cover wherever possible – using roofs, archways, awnings or even indoors.

  • We know plans change. To request a refund please contact us 24 hours in advance of your public tour’s scheduled departure time. Private tours require 30 days advance notice to receive full refund.
